Emalkay Produces an Explosive Faithless Remix

We don’t normally post downloadable tracks but since this one is so huge, we had to. Emalkay absolutely kills it! It’s great to see a young producer breathing new life into such a classic band. The original “Sun to Me” was released on iTunes as a free download for one week in December, but the window has closed and it’s now only available in the UK. “Sun to Me” is a teaser single paving the way for the full return of Faithless in 2010.

Field – by Self Burning and Alexey Devyanin

I stumbled across this video while checking out Pixelord’s (Alexey Devyanin) tracks on SoundCloud. It’s stunning to say the least. Animation by Self Burning. Sound design and music by Alexey Devyanin.

Nosaj Thing Remixes Drake, Charlotte Gainsbourg and The XX

nosaj-thing-liveIt’s been a great year for DJ/producer Nosaj Thing, aka Jason Chung. He released an extremely successful debut album which made numerous top albums of 2009 lists, toured the world with an innovative audio/visual set, was nominated for best new electronic artist in the URB 2009 Reader’s Poll and has remixed tracks by some of this years’ top artists.

His most recent remixes are Drake’s “Forever,” The XX’s “Islands,” and Charlotte Gainsbourg’s “Heaven Can Wait.” Other artists remixed by Nosaj include Flying Lotus, Nalepa, Freeland and Blank Blue.

Happy New Year from Sawtooth.fm

Musically, 2009 was a great year. We got some incredibly talented new artists and hundreds, if not thousands of new releases that have pushed the complexity and creativity of electronic music. It’s been a tough year trying to keep up with all the new music while juggling Sawtooth, school, a full time job and current unemployment. Without the support and comments, Sawtooth couldn’t keep pushing forward. So I’d like to shout out to some artists who reached out to and kept in contact with Sawtooth throughout the year: Two Fingers, King Cannibal, Noisia, Control Freak, Spoonbill and BEE Records. I’d also like to thank Andy, Megan and Jim for contributing great reviews and hope they keep ‘em coming!

Unfortunately, we’re not ready to dive into 2010 yet because of the long list of artists we still haven’t reviewed from last year. We’ll try to get these out shortly so we can get back on track with new releases. Among some of the near-future reviews are Nosaj Thing, Ruxpin, John Tejada, HECQ, Broken Note, Eskmo, Brackles, Shortstuff, Fuck Buttons, Luke Vibert, Moderat and Little Dragon.

Thank you all for a great first year.
