Pendulum Headlining South West Four Sunday August 28, 2011

Last year, SW4 brought you Fatboy Slim, Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox, Skream, Benga, Boyz Noize and Andy C. This year, the show’s getting even bigger. The first headliner announced is Pendulum, who will be performing a full live show of which Mixmag called “the world’s most exciting live act.” Their shows are full of energy, twisted bass, heavy beats and an amazing light show including pyrotechnics. This will be their only stop in London this year, so don’t miss out.

Things are looking huge for SW4 2011 and Pendulum is just the tip of the iceberg. The full line-up will be gradually revealed in the coming weeks. The festival will be held Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th of August at Clapham Common, London. General sale tickets will be available Wednesday the 16th of April at 9AM.

Objekt – Objekt EP 1

This new German (or English) producer, Objekt, should be on everyone’s radar. This is minimal, futuristic dubstep at its best.  After blindly downloading the release a few weeks ago, I realized I stumbled across something huge. My first (and completely wrong) impression was stale minimal grime…until the tracks built up and broke back down repeatedly with pulsing bass, and analog synths that fluctuate in and out like waves on a shore of intricate beats. The lack of a face behind the music makes it even more enticing. The producer, known only as TJ, is allowing the music to speak for itself—and it does, it screams.

1. Objekt – Tinderbox
2. Objekt – The Goose That Got Away

Tipper – Snake Eyes EP

Let’s get ready to rumble! Tipper’s latest release, Snake Eyes, has enough wobbly bass to take down both The Natural Disasters and The Brothers of Destruction. These two tracks are packed with plenty of morphing synths and sputtering low-end bass. It’s not quite what I expected to hear after last years’ mind bending Broken Soul Jamboree but still a cool, twisted breakbeat release—similar in style to Wobble Factor and Tertiary Noise.

2. Tipper – Chrome Splat
